Working with Orleans House Gallery in partnership with the Arts Council England, London Transport Museum, Fulham Palace, Kingston Museum and PM Gallery. For a period of 5 months I worked with the above galleries and museums to enable a group of 14 home schooled children to achieve their explorer/bronze arts award. I was very much encouraged to draw upon my practice to help the young people produce artwork. We met every other week and attended a museum/ heritage site for inspiration. I devised certain ‘tool’s such as Blackboard old print hands which the young people could point and write something about what they have seen. I also devised ‘Artist explorer’ cards which enabled them to start looking at things differently. We worked with different mediums to create visual art works such as designing artist concertina books, working with typography on materials such as glass and ceramics, and creating poster pages for their arts award sketch book inspired by the poster art collection in the London Transport Museum. At the end of the project all young people created an exhibition of their work which was externally moderated, all students passed their award.
